OPTIBELT supports VTH association with the topic “drive technology”

Once again, OPTIBELT has supported the VTH (Verband Technischer Handel e.V., Düsseldorf / Association for Technical Trade) during a basic seminar with the topic “drive technology”. About 30 experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland attended the event at the beginning of May.

This year, the seminar took place in Bad Salzschlirf near Fulda/Germany in the conference hotel “aqualux” from May 6th to 9th. The participants of the seminar were welcomed by Matthias Mergans of the VTH. Mergans, who is new in the lines of committed VTH members, is the successor of Dirk Beckmann, who had still organised this seminar before handing over to Mergans. The VTH had already asked OPTIBELT at the beginning of this year, as a partner of the association and part of the expert group “drive technology”, to take over the topic “belt drives” for the seminar. Optibelt was pleased to comply with this request, and brought along many representation samples.

The initial focus of the all-day seminar was placed on the basic characteristics of V-belts, ribbed belts and timing belts, as well as their specific advantages and disadvantages by direct comparison. After that, further important topics, especially concerning day-to-day practical use, were presented and worked out together. Due to the request of the VTH, the emphasis was placed on company-trespassing aspects.

In the end, the seminar included the following topics:
• Categorising of V-belts, kraftbands and ribbed belts via profile   gauge using samples
Wrapped V-belts and raw edge V-belts: standard V-belts,   wedge belts, kraftbands and their characteristics by   comparison
Easy determination of length ranges and minimum pulley   diameters depending on the given profile
Characteristics and multiple applications of polyurethane and   chloroprene timing belts
Main causes of defect, cause and reaction/measures:   alignment via the OPTIBELT laser pointer and adjustment of
the tension (e.g. with the tension gauge Optikrik)

At the end of the seminar programme, a virtual tour of the production department of the OPTIBELT headquarters in Höxter finally completed the participants’ impressions. Thus, the participants became interested in visiting Höxter and the OPTIBELT facilities in Bad Blankenburg and Rinteln. The OPTIBELT seminars offered there are already highly frequented and appreciated by end customers and the technical trade. Participants can brush up on or even deepen their knowledge according to individual focus points.

During the following leave-taking, all participants and Matthias Mergans of the VTH expressed their satisfaction with the seminar day conducted by OPTIBELT. Furthermore, the guests were not only perfectly prepared for the final examinations which were scheduled for the last seminar day, but also and especially for customer requests and demands regarding belt applications in daily production routine.
